Since my father-in-law bought this property in 1950, it has been referred to as "Schaezler Ranch" or "Schaezler Farm". This presented a problem, "ranch" seemed much larger and "farm" implied we were growing things.
No one lived here in Modern Time, but in 1997, we built and moved here. As my husband grew up and visited this property, he knew from his "Golden Guides" that we had many things that shouldn't be here. We kept finding things we shouldn't have and invited others over to observe. I posted to Texbirds about what we had and was told we couldn't have them. I persisted with posting and finally some took up my offer to visit and yes, they found the rarities.
This started an ever increasing number of visitors that had to know how to spell "Schaezler" to visit. After many years, one son called and asked what I would call this place without using "Schaezler", and I thought and said "Warbler Woods", to which he asked, "Warbler Woods what?" I said Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary, and then I heard clicking on his keyboard. He then announced that we were Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary and had bought a domain. He then built our website and maintained it until recently. I was unable to change things easily on my Webpage in the past, so now I will have a new Website going Live soon.
